Seritourism center’s salient features

Seritourism center is established in Government Silk farm Yercaud, between the Rose Garden and the View point called “Lady’s Seat” in Yercaud. In this center all activities of Sericulture viz., Mulberry Cultivation, Silkworm Rearing, Silk Reeling, Silk Twisting and Silk Weaving are exhibited in order to explain the processes of Silk production.

2. Newton’s cradle : Newton’s cradle is a device that demonstrates conservation of momentum and energy using a series of swinging spheres. When one sphere at the end is lifted and released, it strikes the stationary spheres, transmitting a force through the stationary spheres that pushes the last sphere upward. The last sphere swings back and strikes the still nearly stationary spheres, repeating the effect in the opposite direction. The device is named after 17th-century English scientist Sir Isaac Newton. It is also known as Newton's balls or Executive Ball Clicker.

3. Snake Pendulum: Each of the swinging balls is a pendulum that swings back and forth at a slightly different rate, determined by the length of string supporting it. The longest pendulum swings 15 times in 30 seconds, the next longest swings 16 times in 30 seconds, and so on, until the last pendulum, which swings 24 times in 30 seconds. Since every pendulum completes an exact number of swings in this time, they all come back together every 30 seconds. The result is two opposing lines of pendulums that seem to dance with each other like a snake..

4. Gravity well: Roll the ball parallel to the outer edge of the dish. Notice that the ball goes around the dish in a circular path. Also notice that a complete orbit takes less and less time as the ball gets closer to the centre. Now roll the ball slightly in toward the centre of the dish. Is the shape of its path the same as before? Try rolling the ball at different speeds. This balls act much like planets orbiting around the sun. The farther the ball is from the hole the more time it takes to complete the orbit. It simulates the planets rotations in the solar system.

5. Infinity Well : An infinity mirror is a pair of parallel mirrors, which create a series of smaller and smaller reflections that appear to recede to infinity. They are used as water well illusion and decorations. The 3D illusion mirror effect is produced whenever there are two parallel reflective surfaces which can bounce a beam of light back and forth an indefinite (theoretically infinite) number of times. The reflections appear to recede into the distance because the light actually is traversing the distance it appears to be traveling.

6. Optical illusion : This pyramid panorama picture folds and slots together, to create a picture that is moving illusion. As you move, the buildings seem to swivel, and follow you. This is a really impressive optical illusion.

7. Magical appearance hall (AR and VR) : In this hall there are six LED monitors mounted on the wall. These monitors will displays the Thrilling 5-D videos about Tsunami and Shark fish attacking which plays for almost 12 minutes. The 3-D games which will attract all. This will have a wonderful feeling. There are many entertainment activities for kids are there in this center. The people visiting Seritourist center will have wonderful and everlasting memories in their mind about the Sericultural activities and its awareness.
